Staying Put

So much for my western travel plans. This week I find yet another reason to stay put.
Pig farms may be the source of swine flu but human travel is what spreads it around the world, especially air travel.
Living in place combats the spread of disease.

Longing

Sleep

At first, the sound is faint. Traveling through his single exposed ear, through the tympanic membrane, the vibrating sound then passes the malleus, incus, stapes and on to the cochlea, the auditory nerve and finally the brain. The miracle of hearing, even in the clutches of sleep.
